I became a real estate agent to help people achieve homeownership. What I didn't expect was losing my own properties to foreclosure—or how that experience would make me the REALTOR® I am today.

My husband Damian and I had just left the chaos of New York City in search of a quieter life for our young son. We settled in Oviedo, a peaceful suburb outside Orlando, and I was amazed by the number of people moving to Florida in pursuit of homeownership. Watching the housing market take off, I found myself thinking, “I’d love to become a REALTOR®.” My sister and I earned our licenses together, convinced that real estate would be an exciting new chapter.

Although my real estate career began in Florida, the experiences that shaped it started much earlier. I grew up in Queens, New York. The Wall Street boom of the 1980s sparked my interest in business. After two years of college, I left school and decided to build my career through experience instead.
After leaving school, I began working in Manhattan and eventually started working at Madison Square Garden as an event manager. It was an incredible experience; I worked behind the scenes at Knicks and Rangers games, major concerts, and even the Grammy Awards. The job was exciting, but it demanded long hours, late nights, and nearly every holiday.
The most defining moment of my life came in September 2001. I had just returned from maternity leave after the birth of my son Damian Jr. My first day back at work was September 10, 2001 the night of Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden. I worked until 3 a.m., drove home past the World Trade Center, and went to bed.
The next morning, my mother called and told me to turn on the television. Like so many New Yorkers, I watched in disbelief as the events of September 11 unfolded. In the weeks that followed, the city felt different: missing-person posters covered the walls of Penn Station, the smell of smoke lingered in the air, and a sense of uncertainty touched every aspect of daily life. My husband and I realized we wanted a different environment in which to raise our family.

We moved to Florida and embraced the opportunity for a fresh start. Changing careers and becoming a real estate agent seemed like the perfect fit; I loved the idea of helping people build a future through homeownership.
Like many people during those years, we also became real estate investors. We purchased rental properties with minimal money down and believed the market would continue rising indefinitely. When the housing market crashed, we lost those properties to foreclosure. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but it taught me lessons that no classroom ever could. I became a wiser, more empathetic Realtor thanks to that experience.

Over the years, my career evolved. I opened my own brokerage, Outside the Box Realty, and later faced the loss of my business partner, which forced me to reevaluate my future. Ultimately, that challenge led me to a brokerage that reignited my passion for the profession. It reminded me that real estate is about much more than contracts and transactions. We educate, advocate, and guide people through some of the most important decisions they will ever make, and for that, I’m proud.
Outside of work, I’m a devoted NFL and NBA fan, and I run my own fantasy football league (and love beating the guys). Golf is my escape, even if I’m not great at it, and nothing relaxes me more than spending time at the beach. My son, Damian, is now 25 and living in New York. My husband and I have been together for more than twenty years, and our relationship remains as strong as ever.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every challenge, lesson, and opportunity that brought me here. Each chapter has taught me something valuable, and I look forward to helping others create their own stories through homeownership.
I believe in homeownership because I’ve seen firsthand how it can create stability, build wealth, and establish a legacy for future generations. To help my clients get there, I always think outside the box. I believe in finding creative solutions and embracing challenges that others might shy away from. I don’t just focus on clients who are ready to buy right now—I want to help everyone, no matter their situation.
I’m a straight shooter; there’s no fluff or pretense with me. Maybe it’s the New Yorker in me, but I value authenticity, especially in a world where so much feels fake or overly manufactured. I can’t imagine putting out an AI-generated version of myself or pretending to be something I’m not. I love to laugh and keep things light, even in stressful situations, because buying a house shouldn’t feel like life or death. My clients know they’re getting someone who’s honest, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping them, not just making a sale. That authenticity and humor go a long way in making the process both enjoyable and secure for my clients.
